HOW DOES THE UPDATE SERVICE WORK?

By adopting the service, your firm can resolve its current trust deed issues. Furthermore all future trust deeds are uniform (with facility for customization) and automatically up-to-date.

We have made it very simple for your firm to adopt the service:

STEP 1

Send us your clients' existing trust deeds.

Please include details of the trustees and members for each existing fund.

Also, let us know:

  • Which billing arrangement you will adopt (see below); and
  • Which month you would like us to send annual updates.

Alternatively, you can subscribe online here.

STEP 2

Chris Hogan & Co reviews the trust deed.

Once the trust deeds have been amended we will return them to you with an invoice.

STEP 3

Send the amending trust deed to the client with a letter introducing the service.

The first amending deed will adopt up-to-date governing rules for the fund and enable the trustees to adopt future updates by simple resolution.

In the second year and subsequent years, updates are simply sent to the client via your firm on or before the nominated review date.

Clients may discontinue at any time.

ADVISERS BEWARE!

SMSF Trustees can take action against a professional for inappropriate advice that results in a loss to their superannuation Fund.

Trustees can recover this loss through special provisions in the Superannuation Industry (SIS) Act.

OUR STRONG RECOMMENDATION - If a trust deed is not up to date - do NOT provide professional advice.

SO, WHAT DOES THE SERVICE COST?

The cost of the service is very competitive as you can see from the table below;

SERVICECOST
Initial Review and Amend Deed$275 (inc GST)
Annual Update Service
(Year 2 onwards)
Billed to your firm
$110 (inc GST)
Billed to Client (care of your firm)
  • Direct Debit Authority Client
  • No Direct Debit Authority

$110 (inc GST)
$130 (inc GST)

PAYMENT ARRANGEMENTS

Collection of small amounts not paid promptly is inconvenient and expensive for you and us. This can be overcome if the client gives us a Direct Debit Authority or:

  • We bill your firm for the annual fee for all subscriber funds (with 90 days to pay): and
  • You include in your account to each fund the cost of the service ($110) plus your administration cost if appropriate.

We hope one of these options will suit your firm.

Where neither is possible, the annual fee is $130 including GST.

We commenced the service in 2002 and ever since we have kept the annual fee at $110. This was seen as good value in 2002 and hopefully looks to be even better value now.
